Brian !! OMG

How the hell r'ya !
I'm alive and well living in Ossining, NY for
the last 16 years with my family and very immersed in the NY music scene. (B'way, recording, club dates and producing)

Man, these great tunes of yours sure do bring back memories. I forgot about them, but not you. Hope all is well with you in L.A. and I'm thrilled that you are doing what you had
set out to do. All that hard work paid off. G-d bless.

Glad to hear Steve Shebar is doing well also.

Be well. Mark

Hi Max,
Please, download and share this! I really enjoyed the show. Would you believe that I flew into Paris from Los Angeles for the weekend to catch the show (and others). I thought the festival, especially the programming was very successful. Let me know if you need help to download the video - or I can post it to another location. Are you a Mac user? All the best - please let me know if you're ever in Los Angeles. And you might tell Joey Baron that I posted another video of him in an early version of "Masada" with Zorn, Dave Douglas and Greg Cohen from a performance in Atlanta, Georgia in 1993! http://www.briankingmusic.biz/workbench/?p=1217 All the best, Brian

Comment on The 2009 NYC Winter Jazzfest by admin

I wanted to mention APAP's role in this event - for more info go to: http://www.artspresenters.org/

The 2009 NYC WINTER JAZZFEST will feature over 20 different jazz groups during the Arts Presenters (APAP) conference. Similar to past years the festival will provide an opportunity for artists to showcase in front of presenters, promoters, talent buyers, educators, musicians and avid fans. Over 5000 arts professionals will be in New York City for the annual Association of Performing Arts Presenters (APAP) conference from January 9-13. As there will be hundreds of showcases scheduled throughout the weekend around the city both at the Hilton Hotel and in alternative venues, Winter Jazzfest offers APAP conference attendees, and the general public, the opportunity to experience the best of today's new live jazz and experimental music in club venue settings. Once famed as the focal point of New York City's rich jazz and live music scene, Bleecker Street and the Village provide for an ideal festival experience with jazz and experimental music groups performing all night at three of the neighborhood's esteemed venues within close proximity of eachother. On this night the 2009 NYC Winter Jazzfest hopes to redeem the rich jazz heritage of the Village and bring jazz fans back to Bleecker Street. The 2009 NYC Jazzfest includes over 20 of today’s most interesting jazz groups from New York, Brooklyn, New Orleans, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Tulsa, Jerusalem, Chile, and Cuba.

Currently new jazz groups are under represented, yet they are culturally essential to the continued development and future of jazz and the cultivation of new audiences for jazz. Jazz artists need support and exposure to the significant institutional booking forum that the Arts Presenters conferences represent. Winter Jazzfest is pleased to offer a forum for presenters and music enthusiasts to experience and support the future of jazz.
